BOARDING PROCESS. TSA IS ROLLING OUT NEW BIOMETRIC TECHNOLOGY TO GET PEOPLE THROUGH THE CHECKPOINT. FOR NOW, ONE WHEN FOLKS SHOW UP AT THE AIRPORT, THEY’LL HAVE TO STAND IN FRONT OF THESE CAMERAS AND GET A FACIAL RECOGNITION TO VALIDATE THEIR ID. FACIAL RECOGNITION IS THE NEWEST METHOD TO GAIN CLEARANCE FOR TSA SECURITY CHECKPOINTS. AGAIN, ANOTHER WAY TO VALIDATE THAT THE PERSON WHO HAS PRESENTED THEMSELVES FOR SCREENING IS THE PERSON WHO SHOULD BE FLYING THAT DAY. IT ALSO MATCHES THEM WITH THEIR BOARDING PASS. ITS SECOND GENERATION OF CREDENTIAL AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY, OR OR CAT TWO. TRAVELERS MUST STILL PRESENT A GOVERNMENT ID WITH CAT TWO THE SAME PROCEDURE THAT WAS USED WITH CAT ONE. ALL RIGHT. I’M GOING TO PUT IT IN HERE. IF YOU COULD LOOK UP AT MY CAMERA FOR ME. CAT TWO VERIFIES THAT THE ID IS VALID. IT ALSO CONFIRMS THE TRAVELER’S FLIGHT INFORMATION. HOWEVER, THE NEW FEATURE IS THE BIOMETRIC CAMERA FOR FACIAL RECOGNITION. BASICALLY, IT’S TAKING A FACE PRINT OF YOU. SO THE BIOMETRIC TECHNOLOGY IS IT USES A LOT OF DIFFERENT POINTS ON YOUR FACE AND ABLE TO MATCH UP THE PHOTO OF THE PERSON IN FRONT OF US WITH CAT ONE. TSA HAD TO MANUALLY MATCH THE PHOTO ID WITH THE PERSON TRAVELING. WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR HOLDING IT UP AND MAKING SURE THAT THE PERSON IN FRONT OF US IS THE PERSON ON THE ID, WHEREAS NOW THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY HERE WILL THE BIOMETRIC MATCHING WILL DO THAT FOR US. TSA SAYS THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN ROLLED OUT TO ALL OF THE MAJOR AIRPORTS AND THEY’RE INSTALLED AT ALL OF THE STATIONS HERE AT PITTSBURGH INTERN
