Amid his long-awaited acting debut in a remake of “Road House,” Conor McGregor announced Wednesday that “everything is in place” for him to return to the UFC octagon this summer.
The Irishman hasn't fought since 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier – while on break he filmed the film alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
McGregor, while not officially booked, told ESPN that he received “confirmation a few days ago” that he would fight Michael Chandler.

On “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani, he said the same thing.
“The call has been made and we are going to go,” he told Helwani.
“That means this summer the 'Mac' is back, so I'm happy, I'm happy with my time before, I'm happy with where I'm at, and it's all working out in the name of God, and I’m thrilled, my man,” McGregor continued.
McGregor gave credence to his faith amid his hopeful return.

“God shines on me. There are angels that protect me. I have my demons, yes, like all of us, but God bless them because the angels that fight in my corner and you know [they are] supports me.”
McGregor and Gyllenhaal filmed a scene during the weigh-ins at UFC 285 in Las Vegas last March, with Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane headlining. Jay Hieron also stars in the film released Thursday – the original 1989 film starred Patrick Swayze.
Dana White told TMZ Sports in August 2022 that McGregor was targeting a return in late 2022 or early 2023.
