The Metro Nashville Police Department has provided a significant update on the search for missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain. On Sunday, MNPD reported that Strain’s bank card had been discovered along the Cumberland Riverfront in downtown Nashville. The 22-year-old Mizzou senior vanished on Friday, March 8, while out drinking with friends. Strain had traveled to Tennessee for a fraternity conference and was last seen being kicked out of a bar, Luke’s 32 Bridge, around 10 p.m. The last known video of Strain shows him walking along Gay Street near First Avenue around 9:52 p.m. Strain appears approximately 30 seconds into the security footage below.Police say Strain’s friends tried to find him using his last known Snapchat location but were unsuccessful, ultimately reporting him missing on Saturday, March 9. His family was able to pinpoint his phone’s last known location to a spot less than one mile away from the bar where he was last seen.A police helicopter and the MNPD Urban Search & Rescue team have continued to search the area near the bar, including the Cumberland River, but have yet to yield any results. “He FaceTimed his mother with one of his friends that was with him at the bar,” Strain’s Stepfather Chris Whiteid said. “I could hear him. He was having fun. He wasn’t extremely intoxicated or anything, he was just out having a good time.” Strain’s parents, who live in Springfield, Missouri, drove to Nashville over the weekend to help with the search.“He’s a great kid,” Strain’s mother Michelle Whiteid said. “We miss him, and we want him back so bad. If anyone sees anything, please just call the police.”Anyone with information regarding Strain is encouraged to call 615-742-7463. On Thursday, police reiterated that the investigation remains a missing persons investigation. MNPD Sgt. Robert Nielsen told reporters that the department does not believe Strain was the victim of a crime that led to his disappearance.
