Frosty start, seasonably cool afternoon

NOW. 547 TIME FOR PITTSBURGH’S ACTION WEATHER ON THIS SUNDAY MORNING. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A REALLY NICE DAY YESTERDAY. NO RAIN, BUT BUT NOW WE’RE TALKING SOME FROST. THIS MORNING. YEAH, TEMPERATURES ARE A LITTLE COOL HERE AS WE’RE WORKING THROUGH THE WEEKEND. SO CERTAINLY A HEADS UP FOR ANY GARDENERS, FARMERS AS WELL AS AT THE EARLY STAGES OF THE GROWING SEASON. TEMPERATURES ESPECIALLY NORTH AND EAST, GETTING A LITTLE FROSTY THIS MORNING. COLD SPOT RIGHT NOW IS WAYNESBURG AT JUST 30 DEGREES, HOVERING RIGHT AROUND THE FREEZING MARK AS WE CHECK INTO KITTANNING. MEANWHILE, IT’S CLOSER TO 40. IN NEW CASTLE, WE HAVE 38 TO START THE DAY IN THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH. CLOUDS HELPING SOME OF US OUT. IF YOU HAVE THAT LAYER OF CLOUD COVER OVERHEAD, YOU CAN ALMOST THINK OF IT LIKE A BLANKET, KEEPING THE AIR A LITTLE MORE INSULATED, NOT ONLY ALLOWING THOSE TEMPERATURES TO DROP OFF TOO MUCH. AS YOU CAN SEE, SOME OF THOSE CLOUDS OVER DOWNTOWN RIGHT NOW WITH ACTION CAM. IF YOU ARE HEADING DOWNTOWN, OF COURSE, FINAL GAME OF THE SERIES WITH THE RED SOX TODAY. FIRST PITCH IS AT 135 AT PNC PARK. DRESS FOR SOME APRIL WEATHER IS GOING TO STAY COOL THROUGHOUT THE GAME, ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE IN THE SHADE TEMPERATURE BY FIRST PITCH. ONLY RIGHT AROUND 50 DEGREES, AND WILL STAY PUT IN THE 50S. WE GO THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, SO AGAIN, TAKING SOME TIME TO CLEAR OUT THE CLOUDS, ALLOWING TEMPERATURES TO WARM AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY. I THINK WE STILL STAY DRY AS WE CONTINUE ON THROUGH THE WEEKEND. FEWER CLOUDS EXPECTED TONIGHT. THE WIND IS GOING TO BE LIGHT AS WELL. THAT WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO STEADILY FALL AS WE GO PAST SUNSET THIS EVENING, MANY OF US WAKING UP AROUND THE FREEZING MARK. MORE THAN LIKELY, WE WILL SEE MORE FREEZE ALERTS OUT AS WE KICK OFF A BRAND NEW WEEK, AND WE WILL POTENTIALLY MAKE IT AN IMPACT DAY AT LEAST TO START YOUR MONDAY. BUT THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. DOWNRIGHT DELIGHTFUL. MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AS TEMPERATURES CREEP CLOSER TO 60, SO KEEPING THE SHOWERS AT BAY UNTIL WE HIT THE SECOND PART OF TUESDAY AND WITH THAT, WE WILL SEE SOME WAVES OF RAIN COMING THROUGH THAT WILL EXTEND INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING AS WELL. MANY OF US PICKING UP ABOUT A QUARTER OF AN INCH. CERTAINLY CAN HANDLE THAT. BUT DOES THAT AMOUNT OF RAIN WILL PUSH US INTO THE TOP SPOT FOR THE WETTEST APRIL ALL TIME? AS WE WILL BE CLOSELY WATCHING THOSE RAINFALL TOTALS HERE AS WE WIND DOWN THE MONTH. CURRENTLY SITTING IN THE SECOND POSITION WITH 7.85IN OF RAIN THIS APRIL APRIL OF 1901 STILL HOLDS THE RECORD FOR THE WETTEST ALL TIME HERE IN PITTSBURGH. WE ARE STARTING OFF THIS MORNING WITH FROST IN SOME LOCATIONS. WILL DROP THE IMPACT DAY AS TEMPERATURES SLOWLY WARM. STILL SEASONABLY COOL, LAGGING BEHIND BY ABOUT TEN DEGREES AT LEAST COMPARED TO NORMAL UNDER PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES TODAY. FROM THE MID 50S TO THE MID 30S. TONIGHT, ONCE AGAIN THERE IS A FROST FREEZE CONCERN. SO MAKE SURE YOU’RE PROTECTING THE PLANTS THAT YOU HAVE OUT IN. PLANTERS ARE ALREADY IN THE GROUND OVER TO YOUR 4-DAY PLUS 4 MORE FORECAST TEMPERATURES SHAPING UP TO BE PRETTY NICE INTO THE EARLY PART OF THE WEEK, BACK INTO THE 60S. TOMORROW, MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AGAIN. SHOWERS HOLD OFF UNTIL LATE IN THE DAY ON TUESDAY. THAT WILL TAKE US THROUGH THE START OF WEDNESDAY. TEMPERATURES BRIEFLY DROPPING BACK INTO THE 50S. BUT THEN WE’RE RIDING A WARMING TREND STRAIGHT THROUGH NEXT WEEKEND. MORE DRY TIME AS WELL. HIGHS WILL BE BACK INTO THE 70S. CERTAINLY BE BETTER THAN THAT AS WE LOOK TOWARDS AT THIS TIME. NEXT WEEK. BUT AGAIN, IT LOOKS LIKE MORE APRIL SHOWERS ON THE WAY, AND AT THIS POINT WE MIGHT AS WELL BE

Starting the day with a frost/freeze, alerts are set to expire at 8 AM, and an Impact Day. Seasonably cool will describe the entire day with temperatures slowly warming into the mid 50s this afternoon under partly cloudy skies. Fewer clouds tonight likely mean a more widespread heavy frost; another round of freeze alerts and an Impact Day can be expected. High pressure is in control to start the week. Monday will be rather delightful with sunshine and highs in the lower 60s. Showers return late Tuesday and extend into Wednesday morning. An additional 0.26″ will tie this April for the wettest all-time in Pittsburgh (1901 currently holds the top spot.) The record is easily achievable. The second half of the week will feature frosty mornings and mild afternoons.
