The Pogues' adventure is not over. While the end of season 4 ofOuter Banks has just been put online on Netflix, the platform announced that it had ordered a season 5. It will be the last.
“We envisioned from the start a mystery leading to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship. It seemed impossible that we could truly tell the whole story of all five seasons, but here we are… .” rejoiced co-creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke in a letter to fans a few days ago.

In Deadline, we learn that it is currently being written. Filming has not yet taken place. A production start date of spring 2025 is envisaged. This means that season 5 should arrive on Netflix sometime in 2026.

At the end of the last episode of season 4, John B (Chase Stokes) and Kiara managed to convince the Pogues to follow Groff to Lisbon, in order to recover the legendary blue crown from Blackbeard's treasure, and above all in order to avenge JJ, horribly murdered by his biological father.
“JJ's death will affect the Pogues and this will be the main story for the rest of season 5” promises the showrunner in EW. “This will be the emotional backbone of the final season. It's not something you overcome in a day or in 1 single episode. “It's something that's going to affect them for the rest of the series.”
Kiara will be at the center of this season 5, ready to do anything to draw blood: “She's the kind of person who saves turtles, saves dolphins. But at the end of season 4, she doesn't look like that anymore. She's become a different person and we're excited to explore that. Maddie is a great actress and we are really excited for her. She's really going to show what she can do.“
Jonas Pates tempers in Deadline and takes the example of the very French Count of Monte Cristo“one of the greatest revenge stories“, to evoke season 5. “It all starts with an idea of revenge, but it moves towards understanding and forgiveness. Revenge takes different paths. But that’s where we’ll start of course!“
