Former President Donald Trump called on House Republicans not to vote for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., saying “now is not the time” to oust the House speaker , Mike Johnson.
The House of Representatives on Wednesday killed an attempt by Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., to vote on vacating the chair.
Green appeared to surprise most congressional observers when she decided to force a vote on her motion to vacate the chair, which should have allowed the vote to take place.
Although she has been seen in the past touting a MAGA hat in support of Trump, the former president called on Republicans to table her motion.
“I love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She has the Spirit, she has the Fight, and I believe she will be here and with us for a long time to come,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “However, right now, Republicans must fight the radical left Democrats and all the damage they have done to our country. With a majority of one, which will soon increase to three or four, we are not able to vote on a motion to rescind At some point we very well might do that, but now is not the time.

He continued to claim that he was leading in presidential polls, both nationally and in key states.
Trump said Republicans were doing well in the Senate and he believed the party would do well in the House.
He then cautioned against implying that Republicans were not united.

“But if we show DISUNITY, which will be described as CHAOS, it will affect everything negatively,” he wrote. “Mike Johnson is a good man who is doing his best. I would also like to see some things done in the last couple of months, but we will do them together.
“I'm asking Republicans to vote for 'THE MOTION AT THE TABLE,'” Trump added. “We WILL WIN BIG – AND IT WILL BE SOON!”
Johnson won overwhelming support from Democrats and Republicans for the table vote, which passed 359 to 43, avoiding a vote on his motion. Only 11 Republicans voted against tabling the measure, alongside 32 Democrats.

On the Republican side, Johnson had the support of 196 members, while 163 Democrats also voted to protect him.
The Republican side of the House erupted in joy when his decision was overturned.
Greene has been threatening since late March to force a vote on taking Johnson's gavel to protest his handling of government funding and foreign aid.

Her resolution, known as the motion to vacate the chair, will now have to be voted on or tabled after Greene marked it as “privileged” on Wednesday evening – meaning House leaders have two legislative days to pass it .
