This is Us star finds his house in ashes: “Reality has caught up with fiction”

As in the hit family drama series, Milo Ventimiglia saw his Malibu home devastated by flames.

Fans of This is Us all remember the fire at the Pearson house, a key moment in the series and in the life of Jack, the character played by Milo Ventimiglia. On Wednesday, his own house was completely destroyed by flames, in his Malibu neighborhood, on the route of the great fire which is devouring the Los Angeles area.

This Thursday, he returned to the scene of the tragedy with a team from CBS Evening News, watching with his throat tied as his entire street was reduced to ashes. “It's hard… You start thinking about all the memories you have, that are tied to different parts of the house and all that. And then you see your neighbors' houses and all the destruction around and your heart breaks.”

This is a painful time for Milo Ventimigliaespecially since Jarah, his wife, is pregnant and is due to give birth in the coming days. Of course, fans of This Is Us will have drawn the tragic parallel between reality and fiction while in This is Ushis character, Jack Pearson, was the victim of such a fire:

“It has not escaped me that reality has caught up with fiction,” he said, happy to be safe after all.

A few kilometers away, his partner on screen, his wife This is Us, she, too, lost part of her property in the Altadena fire. Mandy Moore and her family lost the music studio, which belonged to her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, as well as their garage and backyard. However, the main part of their house would still be intact. “We were able to park and walk up our street to bear witness to all the losses. Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now”she wrote on Instagram.
