Stanford University dominates Team USA men’s gymnastics

Expect to see some Stanford University Cardinal red in the red, white and blue at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Stanford University is a major feeder to the U.S. Men’s National Team. Thom Glielmi has been Stanford’s head coach for the last 22 years. His team has won many championships, including the last four NCAA Championships. Glielmi has considerable Olympic coaching experience as well. Most recently, he served as the head coach of the men’s gymnastics team at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games.Nearly half the U.S. men’s national gymnastics roster of 20 has a Stanford connection to Glielmi.Khoi Young is a Stanford gymnast who also competes for the national team. Young says, “One of my favorite things I take away from his coaching is you want to train as if you’re competing and compete as if you’re training.”Asher Hong is another student-athlete hoping to make the Olympic Team who credits Glielmi’s leadership for the team’s success.Hong says, “He definitely keeps everyone accountable for what they are doing.
