Pep Guardiola’s every word before Man City’s match against Brentford

We talked this morning. He deserves it.

He’s a guy when he talks everyone listens. He helps run quality training sessions, especially after a match.

We have him in the dressing room and with the squad you can’t believe the impact, we are very happy to have him.

They know where we are. It comes once in a lifetime, coming out as Premier League champions with three games to go and playing in two finals.

You have to relax and enjoy and give your best. No one can be sure that we will ever be in that position again.

When they came to offer a cameo, I said why not and I was able to meet the actors.

One of the games they had came here and we had a chat, it was nice.

Us [City] we are very proud to make Man City what we are. These are steps to show how we can [build] in the past.

Whatever you do is fine. Now it’s a matter of relaxing your mind as much as possible and keeping up your game.

That’s why Brighton and Brentford will help us. We will be 30 minutes, 45 minutes in the training field and the game.

After seeing United yesterday, I’m really impressed. I’d be careful anyway, but after yesterday and recent games, we’ll prepare as best we can.

In my experience, the best way to play a final is to disconnect as much as possible.

Even our physios and cooks need to disconnect. They are here working 10 hours, it is a stressful period.

So go with your families, play golf, do whatever you want. You have to train few but exactly what we did for the final.

I go with my family. I don’t forget football but… family time, good restaurants.

I’d say I saw a bit last week, but not this week.

I am more focused on United. I saw the game against Chelsea and I started to review what they have done.

To prepare for that match, and see what players we have at our disposal.

They should [La Liga learn from the Premier League]. Here they are so strict. [on fighting racism]. They know what they have to do. This is a problem everywhere… to think that we are better than our neighbors, we are better than each other.

For all generations everywhere. Our ancestors come from migrants, wars, dictators and they have to move countries. Build families there and return to where you were born.

The problem is that there is racism everywhere. Not only by gender but by color. Believing that our language is better than the other, our country is better than the other.

We need to accept diversity as a human being, but right now, we are a long way from that. Hopefully we can improve in Spain, but I’m not optimistic.

They have once again had an impressive season. They are so hard to play against. What they do, they do brilliantly.

I will play the game as hard as possible. If the players are available, we will pick them.

It’s getting better, some of them. They train tomorrow afternoon and we will decide how they are for the last game because we have to keep up.

Pep Gaurdiola is expected to deliver the latest news on five injured City players this midday.

Aymeric Laporte, Manuel Akanji, Jack Grealish and Ruben Dias missed the draw with Brighton in midweek, while Nathan Ake missed the last three games with a hamstring problem.

“There are two finals left, we have to stay focused even though we won the Premier League.

“We have to stay focused to achieve what we can achieve in the next two finals. I will do everything I can to achieve good things in the finals and I hope to win both.”

“It’s good to be favorites (against Inter Milan in the Champions League final) because it means we have qualities, we have to attack the game in our own way, play our football and in the end we’ll see who wins it.”

Brentford are the only team to have beaten Manchester City at the Etihad this season, the Bees pulling off a memorable 2-1 victory in November.

That is their only win against the Blues in five games, although only three of those have been played in the 21st century.

City were victorious 1-0 when they last traveled to Brentford in December 2021.

Before that match, the last time they traveled to the Bees for a league game was in March 1951, although they played four cup games in the intervening years, winning one and losing three.

Of the 16 meetings between the pair, City have won nine times and drawn once.

Third choice goalkeeper Scott Carson has signed a new one-year contract renewal this afternoon.

It means the 37-year-old will remain at the Etihad for a fifth year having played just two games since first arriving in 2019.

“Scott is a real asset to our team and enjoys a close working relationship with the goalkeepers and coaches,” said the city’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain.
