Tannia Ortizcuadra said she hopes her story will inspire people to get tested and that she can find a match to help save her life.Two years ago, Ortizcuadra went to the doctor after not feeling well but ended up being admitted to the hospital for three weeks.”They did a biopsy, and that’s when the autoimmune disease came back,” she said.She was diagnosed with Goodpasture syndrome, which attacks the kidneys and lungs.”Both of my kidneys are destroyed,” the mother said. “Two weeks ago, when I was doing my monthly bloodwork that’s when my kidney function showed I was now at 7%. Now I’m considered at Stage 5, or end stage of kidney disease.”Ortizcuadra said she hopes to find a kidney match, an O-positive donor, so she can watch both her young sons grow up.”I’m scared of death. I’m scared to leave my kids,” Ortizcuadra said. “All he said is, ‘Mommy, I don’t want you to die.’ It has been pretty hard for me. Just to hear your 4-year-old saying that.” The 32-year-old said she’s registered with the National Kidney Registry.
