For many Hollywood stars, acting is a family affair. A handful of actresses have worked with their children on the big and small screen.
Andie MacDowell, Meryl Streep and Demi Moore are all examples of celebrity moms who have shared the screen at one point or another with their children.
In honor of Mother's Day, here are some famous moms who have played with their kids over the years.

1. Andie MacDowell and Margaret Qualley
MacDowell's daughter, Margaret Qualley, whom she shares with ex-husband Paul Qualley, is the star of the Netflix show “Maid” (2021). Qualley was nominated for an Emmy Award for her portrayal of Alex, a single mother who leaves her abusive boyfriend and takes a job as a housekeeper to stay afloat and provide for her young daughter.
MacDowell is also in the series and plays Qualley's character's mother, Paula.
MacDowell and Qualley discussed what it was like working together on the limited series TV show.
“Every moment was precious to me,” MacDowell said of working with Qualley during an interview with USA Today. “I really wanted to do a good job because it meant everything to me and I was afraid it would never happen again.”
Qualley also spoke fondly about working with her mother on the show.

“You walk into the room and your mom is playing your mom. She's the biggest cheater in the world,” she told USA Today. “It goes from the inherent eye rolls that happen when your mother says something – and then also, later in the series, there's a moment where Paula tells Alex that she's proud of her. C “It was like my mom telling me she was proud of me, and it was just one of the coolest things that ever happened to me.”

Qualley has also starred in several other films and shows, such as “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood” (2019), “Fosse/Verdon” (2019), and “My Salinger Year” (2020).
2. Uma Thurman and Maya Hawke
Maya Hawke, the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, rose to fame after joining the cast of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” to play Robin Buckley.
The summer 2023 thriller, “The Kill Room,” stars Thurman and his daughter. This likely won't be the only film the two star in together.
Director Quentin Tarantino has discussed the possibility of casting Hawke to play Thurman's on-screen daughter in “Kill Bill: Vol. 3,” if the film comes to fruition.

3. Leslie Mann with Maude and Iris Apatow
Leslie Mann has worked with her two daughters in several films. Mann shares daughters Maude and Iris Apatow with her filmmaker husband Judd Apatow. In fact, the three films starring Mann and his daughters were ones that the whole family was involved in, as they were all directed by Judd Apatow.

4. Meryl Streep and Mamie Gummer
The mother-daughter duo first starred in the 1986 film “Heartburn” and then starred together again in the 2007 film “Evening.”
The 2015 film “Ricki and the Flash” is the best-known film featuring the couple. Streep plays a musician who leaves her career to join her family. Mamie Gummer plays Streep's daughter in the film.
Streep shares her daughter with her husband, Don Gummer. The two have been married since 1978. They have four children together; Henry, Mamie, Grace and Louisa.
5. Demi Moore and Rumer Willis
Moore has starred with his daughter Rumer Willis in numerous films.
They were leads in the 1995 film “Now and Then” and were in “Striptease” the following year.
Most recently, Willis was in seasons three and four of the series “Empire” in 2017 and 2018, when his mother guest starred in several episodes.

Willis is the daughter of Moore and Bruce Willis. The couple was married from 1987 to 2000. They also share children, Scout and Tallulah.
6. Angelina Jolie and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt
Angelina Jolie played the lead role in the film “Maleficent” (2014), in which her young daughter Vivienne played the young Princess Aurora in an adorable cameo.
Jolie told Entertainment Weekly at the time of the film's release that the girl, whom she shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt, played the role because she was the only one of the kids not afraid of her character .
