Former Vice President Mike Pence's think tank has released a sharp critique of Gov. Tim Walz's placement on the Democratic Party ticket for the 2024 presidential election.
Advancing American Freedom, the policy institute Pence founded after his tenure as vice president under former President Donald Trump, released a memo Wednesday describing what the organization calls Waltz's “radical record.”
“Governor Walz is actually the perfect choice for Kamala Harris’ running mate – a hard-line leftist who appeals to Ilhan Omar’s growing wing of the Democratic Party,” AAF Executive Director Paul Tellers told Fox News Digital.

The memo accused Walz of “[fanning] the flames of the Black Lives Matter riots” during the 2020 unrest in Minnesota, turning the state into a “murder capital” with a 50% increase in homicide rates, and “[cutting] funding for pregnant women” while “[pushing] “abortion on demand”.
The think tank also criticized Walz for turning Minnesota into a “trans refugee state,” having “signed a law that allows children to be taken from their parents if the parents do not support their minor child through life-changing surgeries or purported medical treatments.”
The choice of Walz, 60, was no surprise, as his name was expected to be in the running for the two weeks after Harris replaced President Biden as the party's standard-bearer.

Walz, a former congressman, is serving his second term Governor of Minnesotaa state that Democrats have consistently won in presidential elections for decades, but the Trump campaign has sought to reverse that cycle.
The memo addresses several common criticisms of the Democratic vice presidential nominee, such as his exacerbation of the border crisis through sanctuary laws and his treatment of religious institutions during COVID-19 lockdowns.

Pence has remained largely above the fray of the 2024 presidential election after stepping down late last year.
He had previously declined to endorse his former running mate in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. At the same time, he made it clear earlier this year that he would never support Biden's re-election campaign.
The vice president's think tank has offered a “Biden-Harris Accountability Tracker” on its website, through which the group catalogs administration policies and offers examples of significant negative effects.
