A gun store in Mercer, Mercer County, was robbed Monday afternoon after thieves crashed a car into the front of the building. Three people were arrested in Pittsburgh in connection to this case and are being questioned by federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents.Mercer County District Attorney Peter C. Acker told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that the suspects stole 10 AR-15 rifles as well as ammunition from the Seconds Count Gun Store. Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz said a total of 21 guns were stolen from the store.The car that was crashed had been reported stolen out of Erie. The suspects fled the scene with the car in the building and the engine still running.Cruz said Pittsburgh police had been on the lookout for a white Hyundai Accent in relation to this robbery. A traffic stop at West Warrington Avenue and Saw Mill Run Boulevard on the border of the Mount Washington and Beltzhoover neighborhoods led to the discovery of firearms in plain view. Three people were arrested and taken to Pittsburgh police headquarters, where ATF agents planned to question them. Police had the Hyundai towed for processing.Acker said a similar robbery happened recently at Duke’s Gun Shop in New Castle, where 10 AR-15 rifles and ammunition were also stolen.Police have not yet identified the suspects in this case, nor have they said if the two robberies are related.
