Man shot dead by police serving warrant in Whitehall

Allegheny County homicide detectives were called to the scene of a suspect shot by police in Whitehall on Tuesday morning.The incident began unfolding a little after 6 a.m. on the 1800 block of Parkline Drive.The Whitehall Police Chief said the Attorney General Office’s task force was serving a warrant targeting illegal firearms inside of an apartment building.Authorities say as officers attempted to enter the apartment, a 54-year-old man began firing multiple shots at officers.The unidentified man and officers retreated from the situation. Officials then say the man came back out with two firearms and once again began shooting. Agents returned fire, hitting the man who was later pronounced dead. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 was continuing to reach out to county police to learn more about this developing situation.
