Kelly Osbourne hopes she 'embalmed' her body with drugs and alcohol to avoid getting cancer

Kelly Osbourne hopes her past drug and alcohol use has “embalmed” her body so she doesn't get cancer.

The 39-year-old TV personality revealed that her family had a history of the often fatal disease and she didn't want to fall victim to the same fate.

“I hope I embalmed myself so I never get cancer,” Osbourne apparently joked during an episode of “The Osbournes Podcast.” “I'm clean of all drugs and alcohol, that's for sure.”

Jack Osbourne added: “I don't think it works that way. But I'm not a doctor.”

Kelly noted that her mother, Sharon Osbourne, suffered from colorectal cancer in the 2000s.

“The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree,” she added.

Sharon was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002 and is now in remission. The TV star eventually underwent a double mastectomy after a test showed she carried the 'breast cancer gene'.

Osbourne struggled with drug addiction for years and has openly spoken about how she was introduced to opiates.

“I kept getting sick, and I had a really bad case of tonsillitis, they ended up having to do some crazy surgery on me, and then after that they gave me Vicodin,” said she declared during an episode of “Red Table Talk”. “And that was all I needed.”

“I went from having all the voices in my head saying, 'You're fat, you're ugly, you're not good enough, no one likes you, you don't deserve this, people love you only because of whom.' your parents are. And then all of a sudden, every voice went silent, and it was like life was giving me a hug.”

Eventually, Osbourne moved on to different drugs, including heroin.

“I said to myself: 'Why am I so confident in all of this?' And then very quickly, I went from Vicodin to Percocet, from Percocet to heroin ultimately, because it was cheaper,” he said. she explained.

Osbourne suffered a relapse in 2021 after four years of sobriety.

“It's a little hard for me to talk about, but I always promised you that I will always be honest with you about where I am and what's happening on my road to recovery,” Osbourne admitted on her Instagram stories. at the time. “I relapsed. I'm not proud of it. But I'm back on track.”

She first got sober in 2017.
