In women's football, it is not uncommon to see teammates dating.
U.S. women's national team members Ali Kreiger and Ashlyn Harris were married for four years before they began divorcing last year.
Abroad, Chelsea FC Women's teammates Jess Carter and Ann-Katrin Berger are dating.
However, their manager, Emma Hayes, disapproves.

“The player-coach relationships are inappropriate, the player-player relationships are inappropriate…” Hayes said earlier this week.
“One player is in the team, another is not in the team, another may be in the last year of her contract, another may not be. We all know that, those of us we who have been playing women's football for a long time, “These things happened in the locker room. Longer term, that would be ideal… where you don't have to deal with that.”
Carter, of course, caught wind of these comments and was not a fan of them. She liked a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, that criticized Hayes, who will soon become the USWNT manager.
“By the way, you don't have to justify what Emma said, it's a wrong answer no matter how you present it. There is a fundamental difference between player-player and player-player relationships. coach and it's a power imbalance. She could have said anything but that,” a liked article read.

“[I]“I seriously thought player-to-player relationships were inappropriate, I probably wouldn't have hired the well-known girlfriend of my club captain for a world record fee,” said another.
After the likes of Carter made the rounds, Hayes revealed that the two had a one-on-one conversation and she addressed the rest of her players.
Hayes, via ESPN, said she “let herself down” with her original comments, but added that she's not “taking those things back.”
However, “even if we have disagreements in life, we should not express them publicly.” Hayes cited how the players came together for a hard-fought 3-1 victory on Friday, showing that disagreements don't have to lead to negativity on the pitch.
