“I still have a bit of animosity about this participation. I suffered this defeat heavily,” she says again today, 12 years after failing to win the reality TV competition.

Today's Hollywood superstar Dune, Euphoria And Spider-Man, Zendaya is certainly the most prominent actress in the American industry. It's hard to imagine it in Dancing with the Stars. And yet, she participated well in the reality TV competition. It was a dozen years ago, when Zendaya was still just a Disney Channel icon.

The budding actress, only 16 years old at the time, even made it to the final of the 2013 edition of Dancing with the Stars. She says today she has mixed memories of it, because she lost to singer Kellie Pickler:

“I took this participation very seriously, which, in retrospect, I would have preferred not to do” confess Zendaya in an interview these days. “I would have liked to have had a little more fun. To say to myself: 'Actually, it doesn't matter whether I win or not…' Do you know what I mean? I was too stressed about it all. I I really spent my time suffering from this.”

The star of Challengers still obtained second place in the competition (ahead of NFL player Jacoby Jones) but admits to still being marked by his defeat:

“Frankly, I still have a little animosity about this participation. I suffered this defeat heavily. I was only 16 years old and it was very stressful. Being on live television every week? It's really too scary.”
