Actress Bonnie Wright wants to see Harry and Ginny's relationship better portrayed on screen.
For a decade, from the ages of 9 to 19, she played Ginny Weasley in the film saga Harry Potter. Bonnie Wright will pass the baton to a new actress for the series Harry Potter. And she hopes that the character will be a little more developed than in the 8 films in which she participated.
Interviewed by Variety during an event Harry Potter In New York, the now 33-year-old star hopes to see things the films missed, including key moments between Ginny and Harry.
“I hope to see so many things there,” she confesses.Much more on the development of Ginny and Harry's relationship“. She then goes on to detail:
“There are nuanced moments in the books, where you see them start to fall in love. Ginny has a whole arc where she becomes this real loyal sidekick to Harry. She has this way of understanding him and really knowing his story. It's about how she's the best partner for him. So I hope we see that evolution. If only we could have had five-hour movies… There are so many characters that have moments that I love in the books, like Neville and Luna… So yeah, I hope, as a fan of the books, that I get to see more of that in the show!”
The actress, however, refuses to give any advice to those who will follow in the casting of Harry Potter.
Rather, she seems to wish them good luck in the face of the “pressure“which will fall on their shoulders:”When we made these films, we didn't know that Harry Potter was going to be such a phenomenon. And back then, there was no social media, and there wasn't as much access to public opinion, so it was kind of a little bubble in itself. But they have to have fun, they have to interpret their roles in their own way. They have to make the roles their own. Besides, I really hope that the interpretations will be different, lively, new and fresh.”
And Bonnie Wright assures that she will not be in it: “No, there has to be only new people. It could be a little confusing otherwise. It would be weird. So no, I'll just watch!”
The series Harry Potter HBO's The Last of Us will be released in 2026, on Max, in France. For the moment, no casting announcement has been made.
