A great romantic drama starring Andrew Garfield, in which she plays a young woman struck by illness. “I did what needed to be done,” she said.
Florence Pugh is not the type to split hairs. For romantic drama Love in the present (We Live in Time), which caused a sensation in English-speaking countries, and which arrives this week in France, the Marvel actress has decided to shave her head!
For the film of John Crowley (Brooklyn), she plays Almut, a woman whose love affair with Tobias (Andrew Garfield) is interrupted after a terrifying medical diagnosis. In an interview with Vanity Fairshe told last September why she asked the director not to wear a wig to play this role. She thus chose to shave her entire head:
“We had this discussion where I stopped him and said: 'John, no one can play a character like this, in a movie like this, and not do what needs to be done.' If I'm not ready to do that, then I shouldn't be in a movie like that.”
Florence Pugh continues and explains having experienced filming hand in hand with Andrew Garfield. “We protected each other”. Then, she admits that she was looking for “for a long time“a woman's role “very, very normal who is talented in his own way.
“The story is simply about the powerful love and the powerful connection between two people (…) It's been a long time since we experienced a love story like this. When I read it , I fell in love with the idea of acting in this kind of film that will mean something to a lot of people and will live on for a long time.”
