A big romantic drama with Andrew Garfield, in which she will play a young woman struck by illness. “I did what had to be done,” she says.
Florence Pugh is not one to split hairs. For the romantic drama Love in the present (We Live in Time), which is set to cause a sensation at the cinema next year, the Marvel actress has decided to shave her head!
For the film of John Crowleyshe plays Almut, a woman whose love story with Tobias (Andrew Garfield) is interrupted after a terrifying medical diagnosis. In an interview with Vanity Fair, she explains why she explained to the director that she did not want to wear a wig or practical effects to play the role. She therefore chose to shave her head entirely:
“We had this discussion where I stopped him and said, 'John, no one can play a character like this, in a movie like this, and not do what needs to be done.' If I'm not willing to do that, then I shouldn't be in a movie like this.”
Florence Pugh continues and explains having experienced this shoot hand in hand with Andrew Garfield. “We protected each other”. Then she admits that she was looking for “for a long time“a woman's role “very, very normal who is talented in her own way. The story is simply about powerful love and the powerful connection between two people (…) It's been a long time since we've had a love story like this. When I read it, I fell in love with the idea of acting in this kind of film that will mean a lot to a lot of people and that will live on for a long time.”
Love in the present will be released in theaters in France on January 22, 2025.
