Creator Franck Gastambide already has an idea of where the sequel should go.
The door is wide open. The conclusion of season 1 of The Cage leaves plenty of room for a season 2. So when is that due?
Franck Gastambideauthor, director and actor, gives no timetable but teases what he has in mind for the future, in an interview with Télé Loisirs:
“What we have seen in this sport in recent months is that the public is uncompromising with the fighters. The one who is at the top of the hype can become the one who is mocked, the one in whom we completely lose interest, after a single defeat.“For the creator of The CageWho “will perhaps be interesting to deal with in this season 2“these are the consequences outside the ring.
He specifies:
“The biggest violence for a fighter is not ultimately in La Cage, it is much more now in the media world, on the networks, among the public which is intransigent. So maybe that could be the sequel to La Cage, violence outside the cage…”
Netflix hasn't confirmed a season 2 yet, but season 1 of The Cage is already a small global hit, which recorded 3.2 million views for its first week, in second place in the global weekly top 10 of non-English language series. The Cage is in the Top 10 of 36 countries and in seventh place in the American rankings. A good omen for a possible sequel.
