With Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes, but also an unrecognizable Cillian Murphy.
“In 28 days, it started. In 28 months, it spread. In 28 years, it evolved.”
The epidemic that hit London in 2002 is still wreaking havoc in 28 years later. Danny Boyle returns to the controls of his saga, and Alex Garland (which has since toured Ex-Machina Or Civil War) is also returning to the scenario of this sequel, the trailer of which also makes the link with the original film, 28 days laterthat with its suite by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, 28 weeks later (2007). Just like his new poster at Predatorfrom which the hook at the start of the article is taken:
In 28 days it began. In 28 weeks it spread. In 28 years it evolved.

Cillian Murphy will be back in 28 Years Later, “surprisingly!”
Mainly starring Jodie Comer (The Last Duel), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Bullet Train) and Ralph Fiennes (currently in Conclave) in new roles, this video also brings back Cillian Murphy…but in a sad state.
Beware of spoilers :
We glimpse the actor from the film that initiated the saga for a brief moment, shirtless in the middle of a rapeseed field, at 1 minute 54. It's just enough to understand that he has been zombified… or that although he escaped the epidemic, it made him extremely thin.
Here is the trailer:
With its numerous outdoor shots, this first trailer, which follows his strange teaser in morse codeis almost more reminiscent of the second opus than the original. In her way of presenting a child to be protected at all costs, she also evokes the games and the successful series The Last of Us.
“Boots—boots—boots—boots—movin’ up and down again!”
Rudyard Kipling's poem chosen in the background, describing “the forced march” soldiers of the Second Boer War, in South Africa, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, accentuates the concern here. If we can see it as a way of always moving forward to survive, we also understand that the disease also continues to advance, ever more deadly.
This sequel will therefore take place “10228 days” after the original plot, and while completing the trilogy, it will also be the starting point for new films: two other opuses are planned after 28 years laterincluding one directed by Nia DaCosta (Boogeyman, The Marvels). We also know that Ralph Fiennes will appear at least in two of them.
Release scheduled for June 18, 2025 in cinemas.
