What are the most watched movies and series on Netflix in 2024?

The streamer reveals its annual top. And there's a French hit in it!

What did we watch this year on Netflix ? The annual “What We Watched” report has just been published by the platform and it takes stock of the first part of the year 2024, detailing the most viewed content on Netflix.

In the first half of the year, 94 billion hours of content Netflix (films, series, docs, entertainment, etc.) were watched worldwide. This is slightly more than in the previous report. During the second half of 2023, One Piece and the movie Leave the World Behind (with Julia Roberts) were leading the charts. So who's topping the charts this year?

On the film side, the pack is led by The Lady and the Dragon (released in April). The young star Millie Bobby Brown is still going strong, drawing 143 million views worldwide, according to the streamer's data. In second place is the action comedy In full flight carried by Kevin Hart and Sam Worthington, which has recorded 129 million views. The third title in this long list is The Circle of Snows (by JA Bayona) with 103 million views. And at number 4, we find in this ranking Under the SeineThe French shark film in Paris has racked up 84 million views since its release in June.

And on the series side? It's the British who crush everything!

Double trapadaptation of Harlan Cobenhas accumulated more than 100 million views worldwide, during the first half of 2024, ahead of the third season of Bridgerton and its 91.9 million fans (note that seasons 1 and 2 have been widely rewatched, since they are in the top 20). On the podium of the most watched series this year on Netflix, we find the phenomenon My Little Reindeer. Seen by 87.6 million viewers, the controversial British thriller beat another British thriller: The Gentlemenof Guy Ritchieand its 75.9 million viewers.

The first American series is in fifth position with Avatar: The Last Airbenderin live action (71.1 million) followed by Griseldawith Sofia Vergara as the boss of coke.

It should also be noted that the big SF series, The Three-Body ProblemAnd Berlinthe spin-off of Money Heistmake it into the Top 10, in eighth and ninth place.
