Vaiana 2 records the best start of the year in France, by far

This sequel does better than two other animated cartoons: Vice-Versa 2 and Despicable Me 4.

With 456,273 entries recorded in 647 French cinemas, Moana 2 starts much better than its predecessor… and than all the films of 2024! In 2016, Disney's first opus was seen by 311,041 curious people on the Wednesday of its release, then a million in its first weekend, and 5.6 million at the end of the run. A nice score, which should quickly be doubled here.

This year, the biggest starts had already been recorded by animated films, but which appear to be quite far behind this phenomenal start: Vice-Versa 2 sold 527,504 tickets in 650 theaters on June 19, but only if you count without previews. Without this, his score stands at 297,681 tickets. As for Despicable Me 4it completes the podium thanks to 208,874 curious people moved to 801 cinemas exactly for its release on July 10, , and 458,421 with its AVP. Pixar has 8.4 million admissions in France, and Illumination, 4.5.

Vice-Versa 2, first film of 2024 to cross the billion dollars at the box office

This comedy starring Benjamin Laverhne and Pierre Lottin received excellent reviews. Hereticthe psychological thriller led by Hugh Grant, follows with 9,820 tickets sold for 256 screens, and nearly 25,000 in total.
