After debating with President Biden on Thursday evening, former President Trump traveled to Chesapeake, Virginia, in front of a crowd of thousands to hold a rally in a state that was not won by a Republican candidate in the presidential election since 2004.

Trump was joined by a potential Trump running mate, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin.

Thousands of Trump supporters lined up for hours in soaring temperatures in hopes of catching a glimpse of the former and possible next president of the United States. Many in attendance watched Thursday night's debate and told Fox News Digital they weren't exactly impressed with Biden's performance.

Anne Sprouse of Virginia Beach watched the debate without expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by the way the moderators ran the event.

“I have to admit that CNN was honest. I think they've been pretty nice to Trump. I think it went really well,” Sprouse said. “Unfortunately, Biden is not physically capable of being president. I think his family should take him home. I think he needs to retire and Trump needs to take over. I think he needs to put everything back in order. »

Edward Young traveled more than 300 miles south to Brick, New Jersey, to hear the former president speak after his performance on the debate stage.

“Biden is done. He is done. He’s gone,” Young predicted. “Not only can he not be a candidate, but he cannot continue to be president. I predict he will resign by the end of the week. »

“They put all these restrictions on Trump, and he looked great. They are angry with him. They don’t understand his attitude in New York,” he added.

Kevin Gaudet of Chesapeake, Virginia, echoed Young's thoughts on Biden's performance.

“It was a shame,” Gaudet said. “Our President of the United States [was] “He was practically disgraced on the international stage. He stammered every word he said. Every time he came up with a number, he picked a new one. I don't think he knew what he was talking about half the time .”

“I thought Trump did a great job. He kept his cool. He didn't get upset. He was truly presidential this time against 16. He had my vote from day one,” he said.

Supporters of all ages came to Greenbrier Farms, including future voters.

Sophia, 12, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was there with her family and observed some of the back-and-forth between Biden and Trump. One topic in particular caught his attention, and for the wrong reasons.

“I thought it was funny when they started talking about golf,” she said.

Sophia then took a more serious tone when the topic turned from drivers and putters to American safety.

“I like watching politics,” she said. “I like watching it because I want my country to be safe. I feel like Trump will provide a lot more security because he has real plans, rather than letting Joe Biden sleep. It's nice to know someone is awake and ready to support our country.”

The second and final presidential debate is scheduled for September 10 at 9 p.m. ET and will be hosted by ABC News.
