Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, a new adventure for the heroine [bande-annonce]

After exploring an island near Japan, Siberia, and Peru, the famous archaeologist is heading back to the four corners of the globe for a new mission.

She is certainly the most popular video game heroine. Originally, with braided hair, she fought with two pistols. Since then, she has expanded her arsenal, her wardrobe, but also her story – the one that everyone has tried to write. Going from video games to films, and now to an animated series, Lara Croft continues to travel across the world in search of powerful artifacts coveted by dangerous enemies in Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.

Taking place after the events of the last gaming trilogy initiated in 2013 with tomb Raidercompleted in 2018 with Shadow of the Tomb Raider and which had given the young British archaeologist a second life, the series reveals itself a little more in a new trailer which promises action to spare.

When a powerful and evil Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a man with connections to Lara's past, Lara must retrieve it before it's too late. She's set off on a journey that takes her to the four corners of the globe, where she'll have to fight against herself and decide what kind of hero she wants to be.

Picking up where Shadow of the Tomb Raider had left her, the series will plunge us back into the settings of Mexico, but also into new geographical areas where she will face danger as she knows so well how to do: jumping from a ravine, driving a car speeding at full speed or a motorcycle avoiding water pouring straight at her, new enemies armed to the teeth (the same ones as in the video game trilogy, namely the Trinitarians?), etc. By the way, fans will have been able to recognize a shot similar to this same video game…

But it is above all against her own demons that she will have to fight – something initiated in the last part of the video game trilogy. Moreover, could the vision of a Lara Croft with red eyes have a link with her evil double, the enemy against whom she fights in Tomb Raider: Underworld released in 2008?

Luckily, far from being alone in this mission, she will be able to count on a long-time friend, Jonah, dubbed as since the first time in 2013 by Earl Baylon.

Lara Croft will be voiced by Hayley Atwell in English (Agent Carter in the MCU), while until then she was dubbed by Camilla Luddington (Dr. Josephine Wilson in Grey's Anatomy), and interpreted in the cinema by Angelina Jolie at the beginning of the millennium, then Alicia Vikander in a reboot film following the first part of the new trilogy.

And that's not all! Far from being satisfied with an animated series, the famous archaeologist will continue her conquest of the small screen with a series in preparation at Amazon, written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). A strategy that is part of the recent successes of video game adaptations into series such as Fallout And The Last of Us.

So we haven't heard the last of Lara Croft! But while we wait to find out who will be the new face of the great heroine, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will be released on Netflix on October 10th.
