It has been revealed that Tom Burke, who played the role of the guard captain Jack in “Mad Max: Furiosa” (2024), will be taking part in “Blade Runner 2099”, the first drama series of the sci-fi masterpiece “Blade Runner” series. Deadline reports.

The limited series “Blade Runner 2099,” which is scheduled to be distributed worldwide on Amazon Prime Video, serves as a sequel to “Blade Runner” (1982) and “Blade Runner 2049” (2017), and will tell a story consisting of 10 episodes set in the year 2099, 50 years after the second film.

Details such as the plot are unknown, and the character Burke will play has not been revealed. Burke, who is from the UK, is an actor who gained attention for his role as Athos, one of the three musketeers in the British drama “The Musketeers” (2014-2016) for three seasons. He played the role of legendary actor Orson Welles in David Fincher's biopic “Mank”, and has also appeared in “The Lazarus Project” (2022-2023) and the British remake of Akira Kurosawa's “Ikiru” (1952) “Living” (2022).

Burke, who had a silent but powerful presence in “Furiosa,” is sure to leave a big impression on viewers in “Blade Runner 2099,” just as he has in his previous works.

In addition to Burke, new cast members include Michelle Yeoh, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Hunter Schafer. Maurizio Lombardi from Stay Home (2019) was also revealed to be appearing. Others include Dimitri Avold from Sub Addict (2022) and Gregory D. Wilson from Get Ducated! Other cast members already confirmed for the film include Lewis Gribben from The Princess (2020), Caitlin Rose Downey from The Princess (2022), Daniel Rigby from The Black Panthers (2021), Johnny Harris from Snow White (2012), Amy Lennox from Cry Moly (2012), Sheila Atim from The Woman King (2022), and Matthew Needham from House of the Dragon (2022-).

Ridley Scott, who worked on “Blade Runner,” Michael Green, the screenwriter of “Blade Runner 2049,” and producer Cynthia Yorkin are executive producers. Showrunner, executive producer, and scriptwriter will be up-and-coming artist Silka Luisa of Apple TV+'s “Shining Girl,” and Jonathan Van Tulken of “SHOGUN” (2024-) will be the director of the first and second episodes.

“Blade Runner 2099” is currently being filmed in Prague. A release date has yet to be determined.
