To get exclusives from Wicked, photographers flew over the set in hang gliders

“I couldn't believe my eyes. Well, firstly because I don't have very good eyesight. But also because it was impossible,” said a surprised Ariana Grande.

Long before Dorothy Gale arrived in the wonderful land of Oz, the Good Witch of the South and the Sinister Witch of the West were working their magic at the university. Their early life is chronicled in Wickedthe adaptation of the Broadway hit directed by Jon Chu. With Cynthia Erivo in the role of Elphaba and Ariana Grande In Glinda's, the new musical is awaited by all fans and the press. So awaited that photographers were ready to do anything to capture an exclusive shot of the sealed shoot. To do this, they had to be clever.

The singer and Jonathan Bailey (The Bridgerton Chronicle), who plays a classmate, told the magazine VMAN that they still remember the day they saw a photographer flying over the plateau of Wicked with a hang glider:

“It was like a little secret student thing – very intimate. It was so small and private, until we were outside and the Daily Mail flies over the plateau in a hang glider. (…) I couldn't believe my eyes. Well, firstly because I don't have very good eyesight. But also because it was impossible. There was no chance! A guy on a hang glider.“

The actor did not forget to detail that he was holding a GoPro between his feet. A surprising situation for the two actors, but which is not an isolated case.

So to give fans a little magic, and much more than just a photo from the set, the official and promotional accounts of the film recently shared a new video highlighting the budding friendship between the two female characters. They are all opposites, one is popular and perfect, the other, emerald skin, becomes an outcast. And yet a strong relationship will develop between them. What's more, all the original songs will be sung live!

For Jonathan Bailey, being part of this film was a dream come true:

“It all started when I listened to the soundtrack when I was about 15. I still remember it very well!”
