Kate Winslet has revealed a personal detail about her private life after being asked for sex advice during a recent podcast appearance.

“We've all had times in our lives, I think, where we haven't felt physically as charged and the best version of ourselves that we'd like to feel,” the actress said during a bonus episode of the “How to Fail” podcast with Elizabeth Day.

Winslet was responding to a listener who told her about her own personal dilemma: losing interest in sex with her boyfriend after gaining weight.

“And it doesn't necessarily always have to do with weight, it can just be about what's going on at that time in your life,” Winslet continued.

“I would say that sometimes women have a low libido because there may be a problem with their thyroid. There may also be a problem with their testosterone levels.”

Kate Winslet has urged women to get their thyroid and testosterone levels checked if they experience a decrease in libido.

“A lot of people don't know this, but women have testosterone in their bodies; when it's depleted, like eggs, it disappears,” the 48-year-old “Titanic” actress explained.

“So once it's gone, you have to replace it, and that's something that can be done, and you'll feel sexy again,” Winslet said. “I know,” she added, without elaborating. Winslet has been married to Edward Abel Smith, her third husband, since 2012.

“For your physical health, get your thyroid levels checked,” she says, “as well as your testosterone levels, because those things can have a direct impact on how you feel, which is not your fault.”

“Our bodies are weird and behave in strange ways, especially as we get older,” she added. “So your hormone levels may be dropping, which is contributing more than you might think to how you feel about having sex with your boyfriend.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, “[H]Testosterone ormone may boost libido in some women after menopause. But there is little research on its long-term safety and effectiveness. It may also cause side effects.

“Most often, other treatments are tried before testosterone. These include low doses of estrogen and a type of therapy called sex therapy. Some medications for depression can also boost libido.”

A representative for Winslet did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
