The new film by Pedro Almodovar, crowned in Venice, is revealed.
After several short films in English, Pedro Almodóvar made his first feature film in the language of Shakespeare with The Room Next Door. A drama about the end of life carried, by Tilda Swinton and Julianne Mooreawarded the Golden Lion at the last Venice Film Festival. A consecration for the 75-year-old Spanish director who had never won this prize.
The sublime Pain and glory (2019) already had the air of a testament film. But Almodovar is still hungry for cinema, and then Madres Paralelas (2021), which questioned motherhood and the trauma of the Spanish Civil War, he returns with a new final work, adapted from the novel What Are You Going Through by Sigrid Nunez, whose trailer has just been revealed.
The Room Next Door tells the story of two long-time friends who reunite after losing touch. But one of them is at the end of his life, and their reunion will take on the appearance of a farewell. John Turturro and Alessandro Nivola complete the cast of the film, which will be released in France on January 8, 2025.
