Are you frustrated by the end of the film? It's normal and very much assumed by the director!

A romantic spy thriller that has been a hit on Netflix for the past few days, The Union follows two high school exes who reunite 20 years later for a high-risk mission. But will we see Mike again (Mark Wahlberg) and Roxanne (Halle Berry) in a sequel?

If The Union 2 has not yet been ordered, Netflix has apparently already planned for it. Spoiler alert!

Indeed, after 1h40, the action comedy ends without a kiss. The couple never kisses and it is a choice perfectly assumed by the director Julian Farinowho explains in Variety:

“We're taking the relationship to a certain point, and I think it was necessary to leave room for what's next.”. According to him, Netflix has already expressed its desire to make a sequel and has encouraged the director to keep some up his sleeve:

“They asked me to think of this film with the idea of making three films. So if the audience finishes The Union feeling frustrated that they didn't get their kiss, then we've definitely done the right thing!”

Halle Berry agrees with this principle: “Once they kiss, it's over. But we hope to make a second film and we'll let that relationship continue.”. Mark Wahlberg confirms:

“We want to see the journey of these two high school sweethearts continue. If we can go ahead and make The Union 2, I imagine there will be a lot more than just a kiss between them. But, let's wait and see what happens…”
