The temperature roller coaster ride continues
After a fall-like weekend, summery temperatures return.
TIME NOW FOR A LOOK AT WEATHER. JILL, HOW’S IT LOOKING? THIS MORNING? YEAH, ALL THOSE PRETTY PICTURES REMINDING US KIND OF. THE FALL IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. TEMPERATURES CERTAINLY FEELING THAT WAY THIS WEEKEND AS WE’LL START TO SEE THOSE COLOR CHANGES HAPPENING FOR TOO LONG ACROSS WESTERN PA. BUT LOOKING BACK ON YESTERDAY, ONE OF THE COOLEST DAYS THAT WE HAVE SEEN SINCE JUNE ACROSS THE AREA. NEWCASTLE ONLY MANAGED 63 FOR A HIGH TEMPERATURE. IT WAS THE MID 60S IN BUTLER, INDIANA AND WASHINGTON. MEANWHILE, HERE IN PITTSBURGH, AT LEAST AT THE AIRPORT, THE TEMPERATURE DIDN’T MAKE IT CLOSER TO 70 DEGREES. IT’S NOT GOING TO BE MUCH WARMER TODAY WITH HIGHS ONCE AGAIN PRESSING INTO THE MID TO UPPER 60S. WE’LL CALL IT 64. IN CLARION 68 FOR GREENSBURG. ALSO BEAVER THIS AFTERNOON. WE’RE A LITTLE CLOSER TO 70 HERE IN THE CITY. ALSO FOR MORGANTOWN. LOW 70 COULD BE COMING IN AROUND MONROEVILLE THIS AFTERNOON AND JUST LIKE YESTERDAY, IT IS GOING TO TURN A LITTLE BIT BREEZY INTO THE AFTERNOON. SOME OF THOSE WIND GUSTS OCCASIONALLY GETTING CLOSE TO 20MPH. SO THAT CERTAINLY WILL REINFORCE THE COOL FEELING THAT WE’LL SEE THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEKEND. WAKING UP THIS MORNING, SKIES ARE PERFECTLY CLEAR TO TAKE A LIVE LOOK AT THAT QUIET SCENE OVER DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH, AND WE WILL SEE MORE SUNSHINE TO COME AS WE WORK THROUGH THE DAY. HIGH PRESSURE STARTING TO ESTABLISH ITSELF ACROSS PARTS OF THE OHIO VALLEY AND THE GREAT LAKES. THERE STILL COULD BE SOME CLOUDS TO SNEAK IN LATER ON THIS EVENING. MOST OF THAT WOULD STAY NORTH OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY, AND WE’RE STILL HIGH AND DRY, NOT JUST THROUGH THE DAY, BUT ALSO AS WE ENTER THE NEW WORK AND SCHOOL WEEK, LOOKING AT EVEN MORE SUNSHINE FOR YOUR MONDAY AND WE’LL KEEP THOSE SUNNY DAYS GOING TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY AND BEYOND AS WELL AS THINGS REALLY ARE GOING TO BE VERY QUIET AS WE HEAD INTO THE SECOND WEEK OF SEPTEMBER. MEANWHILE, IN THE TROPICS, THIS IS TYPICALLY THE TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN WE START TO GET VERY ACTIVE AND WE ARE WATCHING AN AREA OF POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE BAY OF CAMPECHE RIGHT NOW, NOT A NAMED STORM, BUT OVER THE NEXT 48 HOURS TO THE NEXT FIVE DAYS, PRETTY GOOD ODDS THAT WE WILL SEE OUR NEXT NAMED STORM, WHICH WOULD BE FRANCINE DEVELOPING. AND THAT WOULD IMPACT SOME OF THE GULF AREAS OF TEXAS BEFORE EVENTUALLY BEING SCOOPED UP. MOVING ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST. AND WE COULD SEE SOME RAIN, POTENTIALLY AS EARLY AS NEXT WEEKEND HERE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. BUT OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF TIME BEFORE THAT WOULD EVEN BE A POSSIBILITY ACROSS OUR AREA. IN THE MEANTIME, TODAY WE’LL FOCUS ON THAT FALL FEELING HIGHS ONCE AGAIN IN THE UPPER 60S WITH A MIX OF SUNSHINE AND CLOUDS, A LITTLE GENTLE BREEZE INTO THE AFTERNOON CRISP TONIGHT, TEMPERATURES FALLING BACK OFF INTO THE 40S. THERE WILL BE A FEW CLOUDS NORTH OF THE CITY. OTHERWISE SOME PATCHES OF VALLEY FOG COULD FORM AS WELL. NICE RECOVERY FOR YOUR MONDAY 75 DEGREES. IT IS PRACTICALLY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. JUST LIKE MARY POPPINS. AS WE CONTINUE THROUGH THE REST OF THE WEEK, 80S ARE BACK ON TUESDAY. THEN WE START TO CRANK BACK IN THAT SUMMER FEELING HIGHS WILL RETURN TO THE MID 80S ON WEDNESDAY AND STAY THERE THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. STILL LOOKING DRY AT THIS POINT, BUT AGAIN, WHAT TO WATCH FOR THE POTENTIAL FROM THAT TROPICAL SYSTEM THAT COULD BE BRINGING US
