A “real false” final episode, to open season 36, which reveals what the “ideal” end of the endless series would be.
Once again, The Simpsons had an excellent idea: to launch season 36, they broadcast the “series finale” last night on American TV.
The 769th installment of America's craziest family begins with an evening of fun hosted by Conan O'Brien, former screenwriter of the series. He comes to present the very last episode of Simpsonafter 35 years of existence. How to end such a saga? Fox asked an AI (Artificial Intelligence) to image the perfect script for “Series Finale”. It all starts with Bart's birthday…
Indeed, the most famous 10 year old kid will finally be 11 years old. Yes, he is getting old! A page turns. And that worries him. Because around him, everything seems to be changing for good. Mr. Burns dies and leaves his fortune (inadvertently) to the employees of the plant who all become rich. Mr. Skinner leaves elementary school for a better job in Sacramento. Milhouse moves with his parents to Atlanta and takes out his glasses. The owner of the comic book store has a baby and leaves behind his toys that he no longer needs. Chief Wiggum will also join the criminal police of another city. And even Krusty hangs up. Everyone bids farewell to Sprinfield, with this old reheated TV show gimmick: “I’m going to miss you.” they say, their throats tight with nostalgia as they turn off the light behind them.
Nelson Muntz reunites with his father. Ned Flanders remarried. Moe closes his bar. And lots of old characters (like Homer's forgotten brother or Hans Scorpio) make a guest appearance to help Bart blow out his candles. But as he breaks down, Bart realizes it was all a dream. It is actually celebrating its 10th anniversary. Because The Simpsons cannot end. Never.
This “final” was not one, just the first episode of season 36 (to be seen in France on Disney Plus soon). And Conan O'Brien asked the AI to write him 800 new episodes of Simpson for the next 35 years… She prefers to self-destruct!
As a bonus, the series offers images of the real latest cult episodes of American TV, remixed with Simpson. Special mention to Homer Soprano and to Kirk and Luann VanHouten, fantastic as Shiv and Tom from Succession…
