Colin Farrell is for it now: “Of course, I’m in!”
Will there be a new round of fish for DC's Penguin? While The Penguin has just finished its first season (on Max in France), the idea of a season 2 is circulating slowly but surely. At a minimum, Colin Farrell gives his approval and confirms that he is ready to re-stack. Which was not always the case.
Just after production ended, the Irish actor claimed : “When I finished this shoot, I said to myself: I never want to wear this fucking costume again! Never this fucking face again ” Worn out by hours of makeup and prosthetics to wear on set, Colin Farrell didn't seem at all up for doing season 2 of The Penguin. But he changed his mind:
“If there's a good idea for season 2, and the writing is really muscular and as strong as the first season, of course I'm in” the star assures the Hollywood Reporter today.
He continues his reflection by explaining that the opinion of the public was essential in his change of opinion: “For me, the scale of success is pretty simple. The question is whether most people like the show or not. That's simply it. I like to be involved in films that are critically approved – it's better than the other way around – but I've been in the business long enough to know that it's the audience that is truly the most important critic. .”
The feedback on The Penguin – from critics and the public – are excellent and the door to a season 2 is obviously open. But the continuation of the mafia adventures of Oz will already be happening in the cinema for The Batman 2. And the fate that Matt Reeves will reserve for him in the film will depend on the future of the series.
