The original title of the sequel to “Wicked: The Two Witches,'' which is a film adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name that is also very popular in Japan, and is scheduled to be released in 2025, has been changed to “Wicked: For Good.'' Previously, it was simply called Wicked: Part 2.
This project has a two-part structure, with the first part, “Wicked: The Two Witches,'' already released in the US on November 22, 2024. Not only did it have the best start ever for a movie based on a Broadway musical, but it was also one of the biggest hits for a 2024 release. This film, which currently has box office revenue of over $500 million worldwide, is attracting attention as a centerpiece of the award race, and will be released in Japan on March 7, 2025.
The sequel, “Wicked: For Good,'' is scheduled to be released in the US on November 21, 2025, exactly one year later. Jon M. Chu will continue to direct the film, and Cynthia Erivo will play Elphaba the Wicked Witch and Ariana Grande will play Glinda the Good Witch.
