Kevin Sussman and Lauren Lapkus have signed on for the spinoff.
We wouldn't necessarily bet on them. The spin-off of Big Bang Theoryin development for the Max platform for several months, has just reached an important milestone: Kevin Sussman (Stuart), Lauren Lapkus (Denise) and Brian Posehn (Bert) have signed on to star in this new series.
Stuart, the boss of the comic book store, which had grown more and more in recent seasons, should therefore be at the center of the plot with the woman who was his companion at the end of the series. Indeed, Denise, a store employee, had become the girlfriend of the friendly loser in the last season of Big Bang Theory. As for Bert, he is a secondary character, an accomplished geologist, lover of Amy and winner of the McArthur Scholarship.
According to Deadline, the spinoff remains in the early stages of development. There has been no official green light and a script is still being written. That said, this news would confirm that the new series is supposed to be a true sequel focused on secondary characters – a bit like That 90's Show – and not a new series mainly composed of new characters – in the manner of How I Met Your Father.
Let us remember that The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019 after 12 seasons. Its first spin-off, Young Sheldonis also finished. He will soon be entitled to another derivative series: Georgie & Mandydedicated to the genius's big brother.
