A baby, the Second World War, poverty and lives that are turned upside down.

Michel Hazanavicius tackles animated cinema. The director ofOSS 117, The Redoubtable Or The Artist adapts the tale by Jean-Claude Grumber, which takes place in Poland, in the heart of the Second World War. Here is the official synopsis: “ Once upon a time, in a big wood, there lived a poor woodcutter and a poor woodcutter. The cold, hunger, poverty, and war everywhere around them made their lives very difficult. One day, a poor woodcutter takes in a baby. A baby thrown from one of the many trains that constantly pass through their woods. Protected whatever the cost, this baby, this little commodity will turn the lives of this woman, her husband, and all those who will cross her destiny, up to the man who threw her from the train, upside down. Their story will reveal the worst as well as the best of men's hearts. » In the vocal casting, we find Jean-Louis Trintignant (his final role), Dominique Blanc, Grégory Gadebois and Denis Podalydès. The music is by Alexandre Desplat.

Presented in competition at the Cannes and Annecy festivals, The Most Valuable Commodity finally shows itself to the general public through a very beautiful trailer:

Michel Hazanavicius once again proves his ease in exploring genres that are polar opposites of each other, never locking himself into any comfort zone. ”, could we read in the review of First a few months ago.

The Most Valuable Commodity will be released in cinemas on November 20, 2024.
