“Everyone wanted to come back… But I’m not the boss of the channel.”
It's time to clear the table for the Reagans. The last family dinner of the heroes of Blue Bloods is finished. After 15 years and 14 seasons, the detective series has come to an end. A delicate moment for Tom Selleckwho played Frank Reagan, the New York police chief and family patriarch, for a decade and a half.
“It's a strange feeling that might not go away right away.” the 79-year-old actor told Entertainment Weekly. “We finished filming our last episode last July. It takes a long time to get used to it. I still do interviews, obviously so it's not in the past yet. But it takes some adjustment. All these things will take some time to adapt (…) It's complicated to no longer be on set this winter for example…”

In another interview with Variety, the former Friends And Magnum deciphers this last episode and why Frank did not leave his post as NYPD commissioner. Even though Frank hates this job, especially the responsibility and weight that comes with it, Tom Selleck explains that Frank could not resign because it was important for him to assume this responsibility with grace, as a testimony to pass on to his family:
“I don't really know why he stays… I know he hates this job, and this responsibility, this weight on his shoulders. He doesn't want it. He didn't audition for this job when he left. is originally presented But he couldn't quit in my opinion I think he should have gotten fired His greatest strength is also a form of curse: Frank has this hyperactive sense of responsibility. wants to pass to everyone in his family, around dinner…”
Maybe one day the Reagans will come back and Frank will be allowed to retire.
Tom Selleckhe is still having trouble digesting the end of the series decided by CBS: “I don't understand why they didn't start streaming the series, doing 10 episodes a year. But I'm not the boss of the channel… Everyone wanted to come back. And I think that with this casting, it would have been a gift to the audience. It's not my decision. Today, I'm ready to celebrate and commemorate this series…”
