Season 4 took it one step further into absolute gloom, with an incredibly awkward mother sequence. Homelander and Milk, Episode 6!

What if we had just seen the episode of The Boys the most unhealthy episode in the history of the Prime Video series? Episode 6, which has just been released, pushes the discomfort sliders a little further. Yes, it is possible… Spoiler alert!

We're not even talking about the Spider-Man (call him “Webweaver”) who bursts webs between two heroin shots and an S&M session in Tek Paladin's bat-cave… No, we're talking about this incredibly awkward sequence, in which Homelander is upset to learn that Firecracker is now taking medication to have milk production – without being pregnant – in order to provide him with his little guilty pleasure: good breast milk!

Prime Video capture

A milk fetish that dates back to season 1, when Homelander was jealous of Madelyn Stillwell's baby – the boss of Vought – breastfeeding her little one. After her death, he fed his passion for calcium by sipping small bottles stored in his personal fridge. A delirium thatAntony Starr has himself set up : “It was so funny and weird, that milk thing in season 1, that I sent an email to Eric Kripke (the creator) saying to him: we have to have as much milk as possible in this series. It will be his thing, his signature, his trademark!” he tells Rolling Stone. “And Eric said to me: 'I'm one step ahead of you: I'm putting them in every scene!'

As a result, breast milk became a gimmick in the series. “Every chance we get, the milk thing comes up. It doesn't have to be really useful. If Homelander is just staring off into the distance and sipping milk, everyone gets it. It's become a thing that fans love.”

The Boys season 4
Homelander

Flash forward to Season 4. After Madelyn, Homelander has found a new source of milk. Firecracker turns into a fountain for his hero, who snuggles up to his breast, the better to suckle on his nipples. Awkward? Valorie Curry admits in Télé Loisirs: “It was a challenge to shoot that… In the preparation, the construction, the execution of the sequence. Luckily, my acting partner and I were on the same page, and I think it went very well.”

Nevertheless, the discomfort is great. So much so that Susan Heyward (aka Sister Sage) can't believe the sequence was cut in the edit: “When I got the script and read that scene, I was surprised that someone gave the green light… To tell me that we were going to film this and show it to the public…“, she confided to Télé Loisirs. “But The Boys goes to the limit even if it means crossing it. And that's what I like.”

Season 4 of The Boys will continue next Thursday on Prime Video.
