Paid a crazy sum to cover the event for NBC, the host-rapper-actor is having a blast like never before, between sports training, prestigious dinners, a VIP visit to the Louvre…

Snoop Dogg in fencing, Snoop Dogg in judo, Snoop Dogg in gymnastics… If there's one star who's taking full advantage of the Olympic Games being held in France this year, it's the 52-year-old rapper, who's having a host of incredible experiences throughout the events. And behind the scenes! Because between his VIP visit to the Louvre and his dinners in starred establishments, the rapper and actor never misses an opportunity to make Paris shine.

Very present on social networks since he carried the Olympic Flame on July 26, Snoop has multiplied memorable photos and videos. Particularly in the presence of champions, whether it is the multi-medal swimmer Michael Phelps for a special swimming lesson, an improvised choreography with the American gymnast who is creating the event this year, Simone Biles, or a horse riding session with the businesswoman passionate about horse racing, Martha Stewart. Each time, he listens to their advice and/or tries his hand at their discipline with a smile on his face, with his legendary laziness.

Abaca

Experiences that also allow him to hit the jackpot, since he is actually covering the 2024 Olympic Games for NBC, which reportedly paid no less than $8.5 million to have Snoop Dogg as a special reporter, tasked with live commentary on all sorts of events, from weightlifting to basketball to triathlon. He would thus receive $500,000 per day, not including his hotel room, meals and travel.

A huge salary, which is partly explained by the fact that in the United States, the Olympics are not very popular. Several of the country's champions win medals, but on television, the broadcasts of the sporting events do not generate audience ratings, unlike in our country, where the France Télévisions channels record very good scores during the fortnight.

NBC, which bought the exclusive broadcast rights to the Olympics for the American market, therefore came up with a way to create entertainment around the different sports presented this year, and decided to hire Snoop Dogg as the channel's real salesman. And it worked: he has been omnipresent since the beginning of the events, multiplying the often excellent clips, in the company of guests.

Proof not 5, with the translation of the videos, obviously.

Snoop Dogg carrying the Olympic Flame: “I felt like Muhammad Ali, man!”

“It was excellent. Extraordinary.” Even before the official start of the festivities, Snoop's first message on NBC was his cry from the heart when he carried the Flame, a few hours before Zinedine Zidane, Marie-Josée Perec and Teddy Riner. “I understood that when you carry this torch, you become a messenger of peace, he also commented, visibly moved by this first Olympic experience. I felt so good feeling that.”

Snoop as a tourist

Before and after sport, comfort: while he multiplies meetings with champions, Snoop Dogg also takes advantage of the Olympics to visit the French capital and enjoy its cultural and culinary wealth. Hence this funny visit to the Louvre, private and edited to his own sounds, at the very beginning of the Olympics. Or this dinner at Cinqa three-star restaurant in Paris… where he was very surprised to discover the taste of snails, or that steak tartare was eaten raw!

Michael Phelps as coach

Of course, there's a lot of talk about sports in Snoop's daily recaps. Even if he sometimes admits to not knowing much about it, like when he commented a hurdle jumping eventand discovered live that human athletes had to more or less respect the same rules as horses! He also overcame his fear of these animals to follow, dressed like a rideradvice from Martha Stewart, a big horse racing fan.

Her dance with American gymnast Simone Biles was also memorable – as was his reaction in the stands in the face of the exploits carried out in this discipline – but the video that probably best represents Snoop's work on these Olympics is certainly the one recorded in the company of Michael Phelps, in a swimming pool. Not a little proud to show his athletic body to the swimming champion, he agrees to take on several aquatic challenges alongside him, very amused by this opportunity.

In the same genre, he also tried his hand at fencingAt judo and running.

“Goaaaaaaal!” or the realization of a childhood dream

During the women's football quarterfinal on August 4, Snoop invited himself to the commentator Andrés Cantor, in charge of explaining the matches live for Telemundo. The opportunity to realize a dream he had had for a very long time: to make the famous cry “buuuuuuut” instead of its model.

“I'm a big fan of you”he whispered to him before asking him if he could show his “support for all these young women who play football” and scream “Gooooaaaal” to the viewers, to the great delight of Cantor, who is laughing alongside him.

Snoop remains and will remain Snoop: “It’s probably what I do best!”

“They invest in me… so that I can be myself”Snoop Dogg commented on New York Timesasked about his significant fee to cover the 2024 Olympics for NBC. As early as July 26, he had given his goals to the network: “I'm here to work for the Olympics, talk to athletes, talk to families, meet people, kiss babies, do all this political stuff and still be decent. Basically, be Snoop Dogg. That's probably what I do best.”

He has never stopped keeping this promise, relayed on X, Instagram, TikTok, etc. thanks to the huge resources of his employers, and always in a good mood… A foolproof craze that should end beautifully, this Sunday, with his rapper cap, this time: it is rumored that he would be preparing a song especially for the closing ceremony in the company of Billie Eillish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
