And it was Laura Prepon who directed the sequence!
Back in Wisconsin for part 3 of That '90s Show ! The sitcom continues Leia's story in the 1990s and doesn't forget to include a lot of references to the original series. Like when Kitty reinvents the cult opening theme of That '70s Showin the car (below):
A sequence filmed by Laura Prepon in person. The actress who plays Donna in the saga directed the entire part 3 and admits that it was “totally surreal“to remake the credits scene, 20 years later.”This time a lot more people had to cram into the Vista Cruiser! When they started singing I got chills” she confides in EW.
This new version sees Donna and Eric's daughter Leia place her hands on the dashboard like Donna two decades before her. Like mother, like daughter! “It was so cute. But it was very conscious!” smiles Laura Prepon.
Donna Prepon then remembers the time when she was only 18 and she was the one in the car seat: “At the time, we filmed the credits of That'70s Show on film. We were actually driving down Ventura Boulevard (in Los Angeles). We were really in the car. I remember getting out and driving around the streets for that sequence… Because we did several versions of it over the years (…) We didn't know that the show was going to be such a phenomenon. Mila was 14, I was 18, we were all a bunch of kids about to get the greatest gift of our lives. Honestly, at the time, I didn't know anything about acting. We were just having fun and that's probably why this show was so special. We were all really good friends and you could tell we all loved being together.”
