Faced with the radical political positions of the creator of Tesla, the Californian Democratic cradle wants nothing more to do with him.

As the American presidential elections approach – they will be held on November 5th – all strata of society are mobilized to show their support for the Republican or Democratic candidate. In Hollywood, where the trend is democratic, celebrities and studios have found a way to defend their ideas: to oppose Elon Musk, fervent supporter of Donald Trump, boycotting Tesla cars, which he created.

While the latter should launch in October its brand new concept of robotaxis, called CyberCab, at the Warner Bros. studio, the news has all of Hollywood gnashing its teeth. Although the launch is not completely official, according to The Hollywood Reporterwho explains that Tesla does not have a public relations department, if this happened, many people might be offended. Debbie Levin, CEO of the Environmental Media Association (EMA), which aims to promote messages and actions aimed at creating positive environmental change in the community, said:

“Elon is very outspoken, and his political views are not at all popular in the entertainment industry.”

On Twitter, renamed X since its acquisition by the billionaire, he does not hesitate to express loudly his extreme right-wing positions, supporting conspiracies, racist and homophobic remarks, and the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, candidate for this election.

According to the article, fewer and fewer Teslas are being sold in California. The decline is said to be due to the rise of competing brands, but also to the personality of Elon Musk. The president of Strategic Vision, a California-based consulting firm that conducts in-depth surveys of new car buyers, explained:

“Tesla rejection has recently reached a new high among Democrats. They want nothing to do with Tesla. And there are no hidden Republicans who buy them. It just doesn't exist.”

And if the actors continue this boycott, the effect could spread to the national scale. It must be said that the name Elon Musk is not very appreciated in Hollywood and many actors have already spoken out against him. After the acquisition of Twitter and the disappearance of the certified account – except for payment – some stars have decided to leave the social network. Among them: Elton John, Jim Carrey, Trent Reznor, Jack White, and Gigi Hadid.

Recently, it is Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie, The Wayans Brothers, FBI: Fake Blondes Infiltrated) who spoke out against Elon Musk and his transphobic comments. The actor is himself the father of a transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson, and was offended when the Tesla owner said his own transgender daughter was “killed by the woke virus.” On the podcast, Club Shay Shay, he said:

“I have a Tesla that I'm about to drive off a cliff because I don't like what he's saying about his trans kid. It's driving me crazy. You don't treat that baby like that, you don't disown your own child.”

Conversely, the business leader has also singled out personalities whose views he does not share, and uses his platform to also express himself on cinema, whose values he does not share and which he boycotts in his own way.
