Tom Holland read the script with his sweetheart Zendaya, and says he is overjoyed by this project “worthy of the respect of the fans.”
Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) is to succeed Jon Watts as director the fourth opus of Spider-Man at Sony-Marvel, and according to the star of the saga, Tom Hollandthe scenario is ready. Invited to a podcast, he said a few days ago that he was able to read the script with his life and acting partner, Zendaya:
“We read it three weeks ago, and I must say that it awakened the flame in me. We both sat down, we read together, and at certain moments we jumped for joy in the living room, as it will be a real film worthy of the respect of the fans.”
After the three opuses released in 2014, 2017 and 2021, Tom Holland is now on set Tonight Show by Jimmy Fallon -guest to promote the launch of its range of non-alcoholic beers– that Spider-Man 4 is progressing well and will be ready to begin filming in the summer of 2025:
“Next summer, we'll start shooting. Everything is ready, we can go. We're almost there. It's super exciting. I can't wait!”
Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland: “Of course it’s going to happen!”
In the rest of the interview, Holland and Fallon have fun with the particular promotion of No Way Homewhen the three interpreters of Peter Parker had to lie to the press – and to those close to them! – about their common scene at the heart of the film. “You lied to us professionally”laughs the presenter, who considers afterwards that “It was worth it.”
Laughing, Tom recounts the filming of this superhero meeting with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. “One of the best memories” throughout his career, he said:
“We were really in a bubble. Tobey and Andrew had to arrive on the set hidden under a sort of cloak, we would have thought we were in Star Wars. It was honestly hilarious.”
If Spider-Man 4 is filmed next summer (and for several weeks, given the scale of the project), this means that Christopher Nolan will definitely direct Tom Holland just before: we learned this week that his secret film, also starring Matt Damon, was set by Universal for July 17, 2026 in theaters.
At the same time as this interview, the actor also confirmed in another American show that he had received a phone call from the director ofOppenheimer to offer him one of the main roles in his next production, kept secret for the moment.
“When this opportunity came, it was the phone call of a lifetime, he confides. It reminded me of the day I got the offer for Spider-Man ten years ago. I'm excited.”
