Even before the release of No. 3, Paramount announced its sequel. Logical, for such a fast little hero!
Do you know the golden rule when it comes to Hollywood sequels? We have to go quickly. And if there's one who knows about speed, it's Sonic: the little hero of SEGA's video games hasn't even returned to the cinema yet in number 3 that its producers are already scheduling the release of a fourth film for spring 2027, announces Variety.
It must be said that these half-live-action, half-animated films for the whole family, directed by Jeff Fowler and with Ben Schwartz in the voice cast of “hedgehog”are doing well, while receiving generally positive reviews. Particularly thanks to the ever crazier performances throughout the episodes of Jim Carreywho plays two evil characters in Sonic 3 and has fun like he rarely does on screen.
Sonic 3: The Jim Carrey Show is back [critique]
That the time of “Sonic ugly” seems far away: since the studio listened to fans and changed the design of its main character, its first two opuses have amassed $725 million at the worldwide box office. Since then, the derivative series Knuckles (voiced by Idris Elba) found its audience on Paramount +, and in the new episode, it's Keanu Reeves who joins the party, dubbing Shadow, cult character of the games.
Here is the trailer Sonic 3which will be released next Wednesday in cinemas, and which should before that start strong in the United States: box office specialists predict around $55 million in revenue this weekend.
