The live-action film series “Sonic the Hedgehog”, a popular game character from Sega Japan, is based on the “Sonic the Movie” series. The third film in the series, “Sonic x Shadow: Tokyo Mission”, has been highly praised by game designer Takashi Iizuka.
As you can guess from the title, “Sonic x Shadow Tokyo Mission” is set in Tokyo. Shadow, a dark hero who was imprisoned on an isolated island in Tokyo Bay, awakens, and in order to deal with this emergency, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, familiar characters from the series, confront Shadow.
Iizuka, who appeared at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany,GamesRadar+ “It's going to be a really good movie,” he said of the third film. Shadow is Iizuka's favorite character, and he promised that fans would have a great time at the cinema, saying he's excited for fans to go see the movie.
The new dark hero Shadow is an ultimate life form born from genetic manipulation and top-secret military experiments, and there are many mysteries surrounding Shadow's purpose and background. The voice of this character is played by Keanu Reeves, who is immensely popular for his roles in “The Matrix” and the “John Wick” series. Reeves, who excels at playing dark and mysterious heroes, will breathe new life into Shadow, and we can expect the “Sonic the Hedgehog” series to be even more powerful.
In addition to Reeves, the third film will feature Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Colleen O'Shaughnessy as Tails. Jim Carrey as the live-action characters Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom, Tika Sumpter as Tom's wife Maddie, and Lee Majdoo as Agent Stone will also return. The film will feature Jeff Fowler, who directed the first two films, and Pat Casey and Josh Miller as writers, bringing together the familiar cast.
New cast members will join the cast as Maria Robotnik, the granddaughter of Dr. Robotnik, including Aleela Brown from The Secret Kingdom (2023), Krysten Ritter from Jessica Jones (2015-2019), Cristo Fernandez from Transformers: The Beast Awakens (2023), James Wolk from Zoo (2015-2017), Jorma Taccone from Popstar (2016), and Sofia Pernas from The Brave (2017-2018).
“Sonic x Shadow: Tokyo Mission” will be released in Japan on December 27, 2024.
