When and how does the Skeleton Crew series fit into the Star Wars saga? The creators tell us everything.

The Acolyte took place during the High Republic era, even before Episode I. Obi-Wan Kenobi took place just after Episode III and the fall of the Republic. Andor takes place just before Rogue One and Episode IV of Star Wars. And Ahsoka takes place at the start of the New Republic and just before Episode VII. So at what point in the timeline? Star Wars the new series is happening Skeleton Crew ?

Disney

“The story takes place after the events of Episode VI: THE Return of the Jedi“, the creators explain to Première Jon Watts And Christopher Ford. “We're in a bit of the same period as The Mandalorian, just before Ahsoka if you like.” specify the director and the screenwriter, who also worked in collaboration with Dave Filoni And Jon Favreauat the helm of these previous series. Watts and Ford go on to clarify that this moment in the timeline was not chosen at random:

“It's a time of the Wild West, so to speak. The Empire fell shortly before. There is no longer really any authority, any power in place. We wanted our children to get lost in this period when no one is going to help them.”

Because Skeleton Crew will tell a true adventure worthy of Gooniesin which three toddlers and a cyborg from the galaxy far, far away will fly, against their will, to other planets where the New Republic is still struggling to establish its law.

“What changes everything is the perspective. There have been children in the Star Wars universe in the past. But we have never told a story from their point of viewe”, specifies Jon Wattswhich reveals that mythology will not be at the heart of Skeleton Crew. Obviously, the canons of Star Wars will still be in place. But the goal of the series will not be to make big revelations about the lore of George Lucas.

“We see the Star Wars universe through the eyes of these children. Children who grew up in a fairly normal environment and who are just not very aware of what happened in the Galaxy before them… In fact, our heroes don't know the events of Star Wars They don't care about the mythology! They don't even know who Darth Vader is!

Skeleton Crew, in 8 episodes, to watch on Disney Plus from December 3 in France
