PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR. REPORTER. THANKS, JILL. IT REALLY HAS BEEN A YEAR. WE’RE GOING TO FINISH OUT THE YEAR WITH AN IMPACT DAY. AT LEAST OUR TEMPERATURES AREN’T TOO BAD TO KICK IT OFF THIS AFTERNOON. 48 IN PITTSBURGH, 52 GREENSBURG, WASHINGTON SITTING AT 4347 RIGHT NOW IN BUTLER. NOW WE DO HAVE THIS RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM SYSTEM. YOU CAN ALREADY SEE SOME DRIER AIR WORKING ITS WAY IN NEAR COLUMBUS THAT IS GOING TO MOVE IN OUR DIRECTION AS WELL. BUT RIGHT NOW GETTING HIT PRETTY GOOD WITH SOME POCKETS OF HEAVIER RAIN INTO ALLEGHENY, WASHINGTON, EVEN UP INTO PORTIONS OF BEAVER COUNTY. THAT’S JUST NOW EDGING INTO SOUTHERN BUTLER, STARTING TO TAKE OVER INTO WESTMORELAND AND THE GREENSBURG LIGONIER AREA AND UNIONTOWN GETTING HIT PRETTY HARD WITH SOME OF THAT HEAVIER RAIN. BUT ALONG 51 AND 19 INTO BETHEL PARK, CLAIRTON, DOWN INTO ELIZABETH. SOME OF THE HARDEST HIT AREAS IN ALLEGHENY COUNTY, SOME LOWER VISIBILITY AS THAT RAIN ROLLS IN. SEEING THESE NUMBERS DROP DOWN INTO WASHINGTON IN GREENE COUNTY. BUT DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH STILL LOOKS GLOOMY. BUT VISIBILITY ISN’T TOO BAD. BUT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE SOME LOWER VISIBILITY AS WE RING IN THE NEW YEAR AND EVEN INTO EARLY TOMORROW. BACK TO BACK IMPACT DAYS, RAIN SHOWERS AND MILD FOR US TODAY. THEN WE’LL STILL HAVE THAT RAIN AROUND MIDNIGHT AS THOSE TEMPERATURES START TO DROP, WE’RE GOING TO START TO SEE SOME OF THESE SNOWFLAKES ROLLING IN. NOT A WHOLE LOT OF SNOW. AS WE LOOK AT OUR FUTURE SNOW INTO TOMORROW. ABOUT A HALF AN INCH TO AN INCH AROUND A LOT OF THE AREA COULD SEE A LITTLE OVER TWO INCHES NORTH OF 422. IN THOSE HIGHER ELEVATIONS EAST. NOW THIS IS JUST FOR WEDNESDAY. I DO THINK WE’RE GOING TO ADD ON TO THOSE TOTALS AS WE GET INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING, THURSDAY THROUGH THE DAY, THERE WILL BE A BREAK. THEN WE’LL SEE SOME MORE LAKE EFFECT SNOW BANDS WORKING THEIR WAY IN ON FRIDAY, MAKING IT ANOTHER IMPACT DAY TO FINISH OUT THE WEEK. BUT YOUR NEW YEAR’S PLANS? WE ARE BREEZY WITH SOME RAIN THROUGH THE DAY TODAY. FIRST NIGHT IN PITTSBURGH WE’LL HAVE SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS. DOES LOOK LIKE RIGHT NOW. DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH COULD STAY DRY FOR THE FIREWORKS, BUT WINDY WITH SNOW AS WE GET INTO NEW YEAR’S DAY AND WE ARE GOING TO SEE THAT VISIBILITY. LIKE I SAID, DROP A BIT AS WE GET INTO TONIGHT. SO IF YOU ARE TRAVELING HOME, IF YOU ARE HEADING TO DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH FOR FIRST NIGHT, JUST BE AWARE THERE WILL BE SOME FOG AND STILL SOME RAIN SHOWERS LINGERING. SO RAIN IS GOING TO MOVE THROUGH POCKETS OF HEAVY RAIN AT TIMES. STOPPED HERE AROUND 6:00. STILL SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS FOR US. NOTICE THAT WILL GET A LITTLE BIT OF THAT BREAK AROUND MIDNIGHT, SO IT DOES LOOK GOOD RIGHT NOW INTO ALLEGHENY COUNTY. THEN THAT RAIN IS GOING TO START TO CHANGE OVER TO SNOW AROUND 5:06 A.M. SCATTERED FLAKES WE EXPECTED AS WE GET INTO WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, SOME LAKE EFFECT BANDS WILL SET UP THAT CAN DROP OUR VISIBILITY. PUT A QUICK COATING TO 1 TO 2IN ON THE GROUND, SO JUST BE AWARE OF THAT AS IT BANDS WILL BE MOVING THROUGH UNTIL EARLY THURSDAY. THERE’S YOUR FOUR FORECAST THAT COLD AIR SETTLES IN FOR THE WEEKEND. STEELERS SATURDAY IT IS GOING TO BE A COLD ONE IF YOU’RE HEADING TO THE GAME 8:00 KICKOFF, OR YOU CAN STAY HOME. STAY COZY. WATC
