Scorsese postpones production of Shusaku Endo's “The Life of Jesus” film and Frank Sinatra biopic | THE RIVER

Variety reports that filming for both projects, which was scheduled to begin in 2024, will not take place.

As the title suggests, “The Life of Jesus” is a film that focuses on the life of Jesus Christ, and depicts the “truth” told from the perspective of Endo, a Catholic. Scorsese will release the film in 2023.He met with the Pope and told him that he was making a film about Jesus Christ. The project will be a film adaptation of Endo's original work, following his 2016 directorial work Silence, and it was reported in April 2024 that he intended to cast Andrew Garfield, who starred in Silence, again. Filming was initially expected to begin in the second half of 2024 in Israel, Italy, and Egypt, but it has now been postponed. Sources tell Variety that production is still ongoing.
