Despite a recurring sense of dread, “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost has probably become accustomed to telling merciless jokes at his wife Scarlett Johansson's expense during the annual joke swap in which he and the “Weekend Update” co-anchor Michael Che recites jokes. wrote to each other during the show's news segment – supposedly without seeing them in advance.
What Jost may not have been prepared for this year was Johansson's presence behind the scenes, as she was forced to watch her husband get vaccinated in real time, with the camera cutting between the two couples. The actress appeared on “SNL” to welcome host Martin Short to the prestigious Five-Timers club, which she joined in 2017. But before launching into jokes about his wife, Jost read racist jokes written for him by Che, as happened in past years.
“Time out. Before I do that, I know Michael is going to make me tell racist jokes like he always does,” Jost began. “So this time, if you don't mind, I'd like to read all the 'Black Voice' jokes, so I don't get in trouble.”

“I’m sorry in advance,” he told the audience before cracking a joke about Vice President Kamala Harris and slavery reparations. “You all know that my friend, Kamala Harris, held a town hall meeting to talk about [how] she still supports the idea of slavery reparations. Well, damn, girl. Me too. Because white people deserve our money for all those slaves who escaped,” he said, visibly horrified by the remark. “Shiz. I’m not afraid of you mofos,” a pained Jost read with a laugh.
The next joke focused on Jost's wife, but he continued to speak with “Black Voice” throughout the segment.
“I want to dedicate this next joke to my sweetheart, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost said. The camera then cut to Johansson backstage watching the recording. Holding her glass, Johansson grimaced as she prepared for the inevitable.

“No! Oh my God, she's really worried,” Jost said before delivering the joke. “Hey boo. Y'all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday. Which means I'm about to get out of here.”
“For what?” Johansson could be heard saying when the camera cut to her. “Shiz,” Jost continued, hysterical. “No, no. I'm just playing. We just had a kid together, and you don't see any pictures of him yet because he's black as hell,” he said, referring to the the couple's son, Cosmo. “Shiz. I'm not afraid of you, mofos,” he repeated.
“Oh shit,” Johansson said, the camera returning to her, taking a sip of her drink.

Last year, Jost was forced to joke about his wife's acting prowess. “New York State now allows movie theaters to sell alcohol,” Jost read. “This is how I can finally enjoy my wife's little art films,” he said, pointing to Johansson in the Marvel film.Black widow” appeared on the screen. “I'm just kidding, honey. I love all your films. And if you ask me, you're an even better 'Black Widow' than Coretta Scott King,” he said, grimacing.
Five months ago, Johansson admitted on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that watching the segment had been difficult. “It's so bad. I pass out during that part of the night,” she joked. “Actually, I don’t remember.”
