Sarah Michelle Gellar lands in Dexter: first photo

And Patrick Dempsey will be sporting a very unlikely moustache!

There will be people in Miami… in 1991. Dexter: Original Sin will tell the story of the youth of the serial killer, played at the time by Michael C. Hall and now in this prequel by Patrick Gibson (of The OA). We will find his adoptive father, Harry (Christian Slater), then a cop in the Miami police force. And his boss will be downright Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The former star of Buffy reveals herself with shoulder pads in these unpublished photos, in the skin of the boss Tanya Martin, the head of the experts of the Miami police: “It's funny, because it's a different time in the 90s than I knew… I don't remember that hairstyle personally… But hey, at the time I was playing a 90s teenager, not an adult in a professional environment, so maybe that's how adult people dressed in the 90s and that's how they did their hair… And what makeup did they wear! They wore a lot of blue eyeliner and blue mascara. And what are those shoulder pads? I look like a football player,” laughs the star in EW.

Facing her, the actress will find a Patrick Dempsey unrecognizable, huge mustache under his nose and slicked-back hair. He will be Captain Aaron Spencer, head of the Miami Metropolitan Police Department's homicide division. And yes, his facial hair will be totally real: “I have to tell you that this mustache was discovered by accident… I was on vacation and I hadn't shaved in a long time. I shaved my beard because we were getting ready to go home and I kept the mustache and thought, 'why not'… Because I watched a lot of vintage Miami police training videos from the 70s and they all had mustaches. And then my hair was long and I slicked it back and I sent the picture to the hair and makeup department and they loved the idea…”

Clyde Phillipsthe historic showrunner of Dexter, will be back at the helm.

In the rest of the cast, James Martinez will take on the role of Angel Batista, Christina Milian will be the young Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu will be the young Vince Masuka and Reno Wilson will be Bobby Watt.
